Weekly Updates 2022/09/05

Hi. Two weeks ago, we launched crossbell.io. Our teammate @atlas wrote a blog narrating this excitement. During the following days, Our dev team was still working hard on pushing it forward. Here’s some updates:

Features#

  • Long character list. If you have tons of characters for whatever reason, you can now scroll to view them in the menu and management page. (Thanks to our first user feedback from our user @revery) long_character_list
  • Zoomable in-article images. There are images small to read or wonderful to take a close look at. Now images in articles are zoomable. Try click the image above ↑ to see the effect.
  • Re-sync note’s metadata. Crossbell stores the content with mostly IPFS. But let’s face it: IPFS is not stable sometimes. Our indexer may not catch some content in time due to the fact that files on some nodes probably haven’t been spread over the network. We are working on solving this more smoothly though. In the meantime, if you encounter such problem, you can try re-sync the content yourselves. resync_metadata

Bug Fixes#

We iterate our products really fast at this moment. There’ve been some bugs fixed this week that found within the team but you might not even noticed. So, we choose not to share all the trivial details in this week’s updates. But whenever there is a bug found by our users -- you, it will be included in next week’s updates with a big thank you!

You voice matters to us. Don’t hesitate to tell us what you think in the community:

Privacy Updates#

Not only does your voice matter, your privacy does as well. If you have noticed, there are no analytics services (like Google Analytics) on crossbell.io. We do not collect any usage information from you. Additionally, we changed our font service from Google Fonts to Bunny Fonts (an open-source font service with a zero-tracking and no-logging policy) so as to preclude your data from collection.

This’s what we believe what a web3 website should look like.

But how do we ensure we’d choose a right path without those measurements? Your voice matters. Let us know you are here. Tell us what you think.

See you next week.
